Spouses and kids are welcome!!The location is the Long Center (UPARC Cafeteria) on Belcher across from the Fire Training Facility. This year, we will again be sponsoring a Chili Contest, so bring a pot of your secret recipe. CARS will also have a Turkey and a Ham for those with tender stomachs. Please plan to bring a covered dish to supplement the Chili, Turkey and Ham. John Townsley -- AE4GB will be coordinating the list of what's needed and who is committed to bring what. Field Day is just around the corner. This year's Field Day will take place the weekend of June 22nd and 23rd. CARS will set up at the Clearwater Fire Training Facility as we have done the past few years. If you are intersted in participating, please email Craig - KJ4BYK.
ARRL Homebrew Contest III

Jim Veatch, WA2EUJ, is no stranger to this competition, having been a winner in both the first and second ARRL Homebrew Challenge. His current entry is a compact competent transceiver that covers 12 meters, as well as 10 and 6 in a professional looking package that offers features well beyond the requirements. Jim made his DSP-610 for a total parts cost of $198.30. This remarkable radio is a dual conversion, downconverting superhet design that uses the latest digital signal processing technology from the second IF on. Bandwidth is selectable in eight steps from 0.4 kHz to 2.4 kHz, and tuning is via a DDS synthesizer designed for low phase noise.

Attention All Amateur Radio Operators in Pinellas County:The Ride to Defeat ALS has requested Amateur Radio support for their upcoming Bike ride on November 5, 2011. The Clearwater Amateur Radio Society along with Pinellas County ARES/ACS are looking for volunteers to work this event.
